Olympic Volleyball Sexist?

Have you noticed that the women's volleyball teams practically play in bras and panties - much to the delight of my eight-year-old son who loves tall, older women - while the men wear shorts and tank tops?

I think the men should be shirtless at least, don't you? Speedos could be, er, interesting, too. So could a mankini.

ARE YOU READY FOR SOME FOOTBALL PICKS PART 2?

With Big Bad Dad in Ireland, I get to place the football picks in Brook's pool. I decided to change a few of the choices he made in his work football pool. I didn't think it was good to have the same picks in both though I agreed with most of his choices. So here are the Team Nichols Week 9 Football Picks:

• NY Jets (J-E-T-S, Jets, Jets, Jets)
• Carolina Panthers
• Dallas Cowboys
• Detroit Lions
• Arizona Cardinals
• Philadelphia Eagles (BBD chose Pittsburgh, probably since it's a home game for them. But damn, the Eagles are undefeated, so I'm going with them thinking they'd like to keep it that way.)
• Tampa Bay Buccaners (BBD chose KC. But it's at Tampa Bay's home field, so I'm going with them.)
• San Diego Chargers (Go San Diego Super Chargers! Who knew they were going to play so well this year?)
• Seattle Seahawks
• New York Giants (I love the NY Football Giants.)
• Denver Broncos (This will be a close one since the Broncos are terrible this year and Houston is getting better. But it is a home for the Broncos.)
• New England Patriots
• Baltimore Ravens
• Minnesota Vikings (BBD chose the Baltimore Colts.)

Am I being a complete idiot here?

The way I have been going she could probably do a better job anyway.

Did I mention that BBD is in a football pool?

And did I mention that I haven't been keeping up the NFL this year because I'm too damn busy writing? (O.K., blogging.) I can barely keep up with what the Broncos (kinda sucking), Giants (Kurt Warner rules) and Chargers (better than we thought) are doing.

Anyone want to help me with my football picks next week? Maybe I'll ask the kids. It could be an interesting experiment.

PAT TILLMAN, A TRUE SPORTS HERO

I was incredibly moved by the death of Pat Tillman, the former NFL player turned Green Beret who was killed in Afghanistan last week.

The media seemed to emphasize the lucrative contract he gave up to join the army. I see it differently. Playing sports for Tillman was not about the money. It was about passion for the game, giving something his all, and being part of a team.

Forget Shaq, A-Rod and Tiger. Pat Tillman is a man we should be telling our kids about. He gave up money and fame in order to protect our country and made the ultimate sacrifice. Number 40, you will be missed.
