I’m very particular about the jewelry I like. It doesn’t have to be high end and expensive, so much as unique and have meaning for me in some way. So when I was emailed about the Phenominoes® Art of Possibility® Studios Collection Pendants, I was intrigued.
These reasonably price necklaces feature artwork done on the back of dominoes that were created by a group of blind painters. You can choose from 27 designs, and each comes with a color-coordinated ribbon necklace.
The pendant has a special clasp that allows you to wear them on other chains or cords, and you can wear them either painting or domino side up. For $26.95 (price of the pendant plus shipping), you get a lot of fashion flexibility out of one piece of jewelry – talk about your recessionwear! Plus, Art of Possibility sales support the blind artists whose work adorns the pendants, so it’s a purchase you can feel good about.
My review
After viewing the website, and trying to pick one of the 27 designs, I asked the Art of Possibility’s PR person to send me a sample. Frankly, I was a bit skeptical of the quality.
My pendant arrived in a gift box. The only glitch was that I got a green ribbon instead of a coral colored one. The ribbon still goes with the pendant, but I would have preferred the one in the picture. (A disclaimer on the website about ribbon color would have been nice.)
The “ribbon” is actually a ribbon and three cords, nicely finished on each end with a silver metal chain and clasp. The domino artwork is “printed” very nicely on to the domino and will take a little wear and tear. (When I gently tried to scratch the artwork off with my fingernail, it stayed put.) I chose a floral design and got a “lucky 7” on the domino side, which was nice, too. The top of the domino is professionally and cleanly drilled and has a clasp shaped like an “S” through it, which enables you to easily take it off the ribbon and move it on to a chain.
It’s a really nice piece and would make a lovely present for a woman or girl in your life who has everything or likes funky jewelry. These would make nice last minute hostess gifts (just buy a few at a time and keep them in a drawer at home). Other girft occasions – Mother’s Day, birthdays, baby showers, graduation, teacher appreciation gifts, bridal party gifts, etc. too.
Phenominoes® Art of Possibility® Studios Collection Pendants are reasonably priced, unique, beautifully made and designed, and they support a good cause. What is not to like?
