I received this call for submissions today from the “Chicken Soup for the Soul” people and Phenix & Phenix Literary Publicity. They’re working on the next Chicken Soup’s book, “Chicken Soup for the Power Mom Soul.” The book is slated for publication in May 2009.
They’re looking for witty writers focusing on the unique experience of motherhood. Wendy Walker who wrote the novel Four Wives

Do you dedicate most of your time and energy to raising your kids and caring for your home? So many of us have made this choice to stay at home or work from home after having our children, and these days raising children, managing homes, and maybe even keeping a hand in the working world can be incredibly demanding. We multi-tasking, high-performing women are today’s power moms!
Soon after making this decision myself, I began writing as a hobby to stave off the baby brain drain. After my third son was born, I sold my first novel, Four Wives, which was published last February, and my second novel will be out in the summer of 2009. I wrote my books on the go, often in the back of my minivan between school drop-off and soccer practice. Sometimes I can’t believe how crazy my life can be, and I know I am not alone! The juggling, the guilt, the precious moments and not so precious moments, and the bond that forms with other moms – there are so many stories to share.
I am working with the “Chicken Soup for the Soul” series to produce a book that will tell these stories. And I need your help! Moms - share your stories about being a mom and doing it all. And children of moms who stayed at home, tell us about your mom. If your story is chosen, you will become a published author and your bio will be printed in the book. You will also receive a check for $200 and 10 free copies of the book, worth more than $100.
