101 Dalmations Cleaning out the video shelf, I see we've managed to amass quite a collection of Disney videos thanks to the folks at Click Communications. The most recent is 101 Dalmatians (Two-Disc Platinum Edition). Here's the product release:

"For the first time in nearly a decade, Walt Disney Studios Home Entertainment unleashes 101 of the world’s most famous dogs when Walt Disney’s original dog classic, 101 Dalmatians comes to DVD March 4, 2008 for a limited time only. 101 Dalmatians is the true Disney Dog classic, considered by critics to be one of the best and most innovative Disney animated films."

This Disney flick has been a favorite of mine since I was a kid. So it's fun to share with my kids, especially since there are no dead parents involved. (A major complaint of mine about Disney films is that every character has a dead mom or dad.) And now that we recently watched The Aristocats, I can see how that film was the kitty version of this one. (Why mess with a good theme?)

Cruella De Vil - Still One Hell of a Bitch

cruella And that Cruella De Vil - wow! She creeped me out as a kid and she still does. No wonder she's considered one of the great screen villains of all time. (And yes, it seems that Janice Dickinson is channeling ol' Cruella these days.)

As part of the promotion of the release of the DVD, five images of Cruella DeVil from animator Marc Davis were released for public viewing by his widow, Alice Estes Davis. (I'm showing one of them here. I love old animation art.)

The images are early color model cells created by Marc Davis in his development of Cruella DeVil for the movie. They were utilized to determine the final color styling for Cruella throughout her scenes in the film.
