Moms, whether they're newbies or seasoned pros, are bombarded with advice about how to take care of their children. Yet, there's not much out there about moms taking care of themselves.
Babylune: The First Phase of New Motherhood, blogged by Kate Baggott for B5Media, is the answer. When asked about her blog, Kate said:
Babylune isn't usually about baby care. It's about mother care. I've covered topics from weight loss to hemorroids, from breast feeding to feelings of isolation. It is my goal to inspire every new mother to do one thing for her own health and well being every day.
There's advice about sex after motherhood, vitamins and supplements, and health. I was especially interested in the post about cervical cancer.
I had undergone a laser ablation after having an abnormal pap smear just after Monkey Boy was born. When I had done an Internet search back then (six years ago) very little information was available on the procedure, so I had to trust my doctor's advice completely. Luckily everything went well and I haven't had an abnormal pap smear since.
But reading an article in Babylune sure would have alleviated any fears I may have had. Boy, I wish this blog had been around when I was a new mom.
