I've already posted aboutt BlogHer '06 at my ClubMom blog, A Readable Feast. The post, Only 361 Days to BlogHer 2007, documents the fabulous women I met and my frustrations with them being so far away.
The theme for BlogHer '06 was how has blogging changed your life. But now I'm wrestling with what's next for me with my blogging efforts. First, there's some cleaning up to do to increase readership, search engine traffic, and monetization of my blogs.
But then there's my overall goals. Do I stay with my current efforts (see all my blogs and websites at Mother of Many Blogs)? How can I work smarter? Do I want more paid gigs? (YES PLEASE.)
Then there's my work life outside of blogging? Do I remain with the charter school? (Sorry neighborhood blogtards, but that's a BIG YES.) Do I keep doing my charity work with my moms club? Do I keep pushing my efforts as an Usborne Books consultant? Do I look for more freelance writing gigs?
Even after being inspired by so many things at BlogHer, I still wasn't sure. I was content to keep doing everything until something gave.
Then today, I met with a fellow board member who wants me to take the charter school's website to the next level - databases, password protected portions of our website for staff, parents and students, "bells and whistles" like RSS feeds, forms, and so on. There may be money for training if I buy the software I need to do this all.
The scales have tipped - blogging and website development is a go. Usborne Books and volunteer work (outside of the charter school) will have to take a back seat and get scaled down. I'm so excited!
